Samsung Galaxy S11: All the Rumors

October 21, 2019

Samsung Brand

Just like a new toy is the most exciting thing that happens to a toddler, so is a new smartphone for us adults. One of the most anticipated releases is the Samsung Galaxy S11–or so we think it will be called. After the debacle of the exploding Samsung Note 7 a few years ago, Samsung has made a strong come back with subsequent releases, especially with its latest flagship phones, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10. That is why we’re super pumped for the Galaxy S11, and we’re sure you are too. Since we are too curious to wait for the phone’s actual release,  we went out and did all the research to catch you up on the most reliable rumors about the highly-anticipated Galaxy S11.

Possible Launch Date

Historically, Samsung has released its Galaxy S series flagship smartphones around February or March.  There is no reason to think this trend will see any change this year. Rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy S11 will come out sometime in March of 2020. So, if you already plan on getting on board with the new phone, you may want to get started by selling your old one before its price drops in anticipation of the S11.

Expected Camera Specifications?

If you thought the iPhone 11 went for it with its tri-camera setup, then get ready for the Samsung Galaxy S11 camera.  According to Android Authority, the Galaxy S11 will likely have a quad camera that will include a 108MP sensor, called ISOCELL Bright HMX. This technology will enable the phone to produce photo quality comparable to that of a 27MP Micron pixel camera. We will also see improved video quality. The phone is rumored to shoot 6K video instead of 4K. If we’re lucky, we might get a sneak peak of the ISOCELL Bright HMX technology later this year with the release of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 phone. For more about why you should care about your phone’s sensor, take a look at this comparison we did earlier of the best camera phones and watch the video below.

Bezel-Free Display?

When it comes to low bezel-to-screen ratio, Samsung has been at the forefront.  But the problem with achieving an entirely bezel-free screen is that it makes for an awkward front camera placement. With the Samsung Galaxy S11, we can expect a nearly bezel-free screen and an equally near-invisible front camera. The biggest predicted display difference, according to Tom’s Guide, will be in the screen’s length. Rumor has it that the Galaxy S11 will have a “taller screen with a 20:9 aspect ratio.”

No Headphone Jack

We can look to the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+ to speculate about the technology of the Galaxy S11. The biggest change for those phones was the discontinuation of the headphone jack. It is safe to assume that the Galaxy S11 won’t have a headphone jack, either. On the negative side, this means your existing Samsung headphone set will likely become obsolete in a couple more years. On the plus side, however, no headphone jack means more room for a larger battery. I think it’s safe to say that this is a worthy tradeoff. Plus, most of us use Bluetooth headphones anyway, so it likely won’t be an excessive inconvenience.

Expected Price of Galaxy S11?

With flagship smartphones crossing the $1000 threshold, manufacturers have seen declining sales. Yet smartphone manufacturers have persisted in their pursuit of 4-figure priced phones. Just recently, the iPhone 11 Pro Max was released at more than $1200. And although Samsung’s prices usually trail Apple’s, we should expect a 4-figure price for the Samsung Galaxy S11. That’s especially because the Galaxy S10+  already clocks in at $1000.

Will There Even Be a Samsung Galaxy S11?

Despite all the leaks and speculation, Samsung’s new phone’s name hasn’t even been confirmed. Of course, rumors abound, but Samsung may decide to come up with an entirely different naming scheme, just like Apple did with the iPhone X. In the meantime, we’ll continue calling it Galaxy S11 and hope that it’s everything we expected it to be.
