All You Need To Know If You Have A Huawei Phone In USA

November 11, 2019

Huawei-phoneFrom time to time, we hear of new smartphones. If you are using a Huawei phone in the USA, there are some developments you should not miss out on, some of which I’ll be detailing in this article. However, it is seemingly impossible to forget the giants of the smartphone industry; smartphones that have stood the test of time, smartphones that have always come up with new ideas- beating old ones, smartphones that have shown us the true meaning of technological advancement. Smartphones such as Huawei.

A Little History…

Huawei (pronounced Wah-Way) is a telecommunications company based in Shenzhen in the southern part of China.  Since its founding by Ren Zhengfei in the late ’80s, Huawei has risen to become one of the world’s largest companies.

In 2010, a statistical review shows that since 1987, the company has recorded a whopping 30% annual revenue growth- a feat achieved by few establishments. Also, Huawei is the world’s largest telecom dealer and has overtaken Apple to become the world’s second-largest smartphone seller- trailing behind Samsung.

Despite the company’s worldwide popularity and undeniable success, it has been blocked from trade by the government of a few countries; including the United States.

What’s Happened To Huawei Sales?

Over the course of 2019, the Chinese telecom giant, Huawei, has received a lot of scrutiny from the international community; most of which have led to its sales ban in countries such as the United States and Australia. Due to this, it’s phones have becomes virtually invisible in these countries.

Huawei Phones in the USA was condemned for the sort of networking equipment is employed. As a matter of fact, the US justice department sealed a 23 count indictment against Huawei in January involving the theft of intellectual property, obstruction of justice and fraud related to its alleged evasions of US sanctions against Iran.

Despite all these, Huawei has stood its ground; denying the alleged misconducts and adamant on its innocence.

Actually, the core issue is US suspicion that Huawei, through its 5G network, coalesced with the Chinese government to spy activities going on in other companies and countries. This is why the Donald Trump administration issued out a ban on Huawei networking equipment. Stating that United States companies should refrain from using the company’s tools.

On the other hand, Zhengfei, the CEO of Huawei, insists the company does not pose any threat to the National security of the United States, and that its products do not interfere with US 5G networks. Instead, he thinks the current administration is trying to mount pressure on the Chinese government; using Huawei as a pawn.

How Does The Ban On Huawei Phone In USA Affect You?

Whether you have a broken screen or your phone gets affected by a virus, the chances of your phone experiencing damage are pretty much there. It’s impossible to shy away from this fact. And of course, Apple would not be selling the spare parts of a Huawei phone neither would Samsung do so.

Therefore, you would need the phone manufacturers to do their thing and get your phone working again or you might want to sell your used phone. Unfortunately, with the inclusion of Huawei in the trade blacklist and ban of Huawei Phones in the USA, getting a repair would become difficult; and unnecessarily expensive.

Not only that, by preventing Huawei from doing business with American companies, over 1200 US companies would be affected. This could result in the loss of tens of thousands of American Jobs.

An example of such companies that could be affected includes Google. The disrupted relationship between Huawei and Google could cause harm to several things. Most of which would affect the end-users.

For instance, although Huawei is promising regular security updates, these updates would most likely, not be directly from Google. They would make even though Android Updates available to Huawei users, they may not come early enough; leading to slower updates.

Good News!

Apparently, as the trade war between China and the USA gets tougher by the day, Huawei isn’t asleep. Huawei is building its own operating system. Making a new OS – with its own apps – is an epic task and definitely, customers are expecting it. You should too.
